The SADC Centre for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (SACREEE) published their latest report on "Evaluating Regional Prefeasibility Facilities: Expanding Renewable Energy and Energy Access in the SADC Region" in collaboration with Boston University Global Development Policy Center & SADC-DFRC.
The study unpacks the challenges faced by developers, the effectiveness of existing early-stage project preparation facilities and provides strategic recommendations to improve and scale these facilities.
The report highlights that there is limited support for the critical prefeasibility stage of project cycle. That barrier affects mainly local and budding project developers. Development Banks with support from governments and others need to make deliberate interventions in this regard.
