Ministry of Energy and Water of Angola signs contract for 62,250 solar home systems

The National Director of Renewable Energy and Rural Electrification (DNERER), Mr. Serafim da Silveira, duly authorised by the Minister of Energy and Water, Mr. João Baptista Borges has signed, in Luanda, a contract with Mrs. Christiane Kragh, Managing Director of the German company Off-Grid Europe. Under the contract, the company will supply 62,250 solar home systems to the Angolan government.

This project, to be developed in four provinces of the country, is another contribution towards meeting the national goal of ensuring approximately 50% share of renewable energy sources by 2027

Mr Eng. Serafim da Silveira, National Director of DNERER

Solar Home Systems (SHS) are smaller photovoltaic systems with batteries that can cover the basic energy needs of households or small businesses and are usually operated off-grid. Solar home systems are therefore a widespread solution in areas where people still have no access to electricity at all.

Photovoltaic solutions have proven time and again that they can be implemented quickly, are economically viable, regionally advantageous, climate-resistant and safe, and can offer a range of additional benefits, especially in geographically isolated rural regions.

With this lighthouse project of Off-Grid Europe together with their local partner Project Net Angola, a total of 350.000 people will be reached. The electrification and development of rural areas will stimulate the local economy and promote sustainable growth.

With this important project in Angola, our company is exploring a new and promising market. As always, it is important to us to provide the best quality solutions and to bring real added value to the local population

Christiane Kragh, Managing Director of Off-Grid Europe.
